It's completely official - we're moving to Lincoln, Illinois. I'll be serving as Minister of Worship and Fine Arts at Jefferson Street Christian Church.
That's about the strangest thing I've typed in my life. This whole process has seemed a bit surreal, but that really ices the cake. Anyway, Jeff Street is the church I was baptized in. It’s the church Betsy and I were married in. We’ll be significantly closer to Betsy’s parents and my mom. Several old friends are in Lincoln. In many ways, it’ll be like going home.
It'll be a huge challenge. I'll be surrounded by people who know way more about my job than I do, but they've been very supportive. The whole church was very gracious and welcoming.
I'm so happy that I almost feel guilty. (Pesky Midwestern upbringing rears its sternly grimacing head...)

Congratulations! Not bad for an otter.
Maybe I'm slipping a cog, though--I thought you got baptized at Lincoln Christian. I have a distinct (false?) memory of sitting around on their stage on folding chairs, while the church lady talked obtusely and at great length to those in attendance about our responsibility to welcome you and disciple you into the family of Christ. Hmmm.
Ah, I think I know from whence cometh thy confusion...
I was supposed to get baptized at the downtown church, but they were having a wedding or something. I distinctly remember the orange carpet of Jeff Street. I also (to satisfy those Enlightenment influenced rationalist types) have in my possesion a baptismal certificate signed by Elaine Woolard, whom I ran into this weekend. I do share your memory of her obtuse admonishments.
Hehe. Well, I hope she feels we've done our job by you.
Good to know I'm not losing it completely. (Well, at least not on account of this....)
