Speak correctly->think correctly->live correctly.

Fellowship ≠ food eaten at a function listed in the church newsletter.

Worship ≠ the musical portion of a Sunday morning gathering.

Church ≠ a building for Christians to fellowship and worship in.

...and heaven is NOT where your soul goes to be with Jesus and Grandma to live happily ever after.

Where do we get this stuff? Does anyone share my frustration?

You know I do Bill. I have a Pocket Dictionary of Theological terms (which includes some of the ones you listed) and a Pocket Dictionary of New Testament Greek terms, but maybe we should put together a Pocket Dictionary of Church Terms? Just a thought.

Bill you know I'm there with you too, and I agree with Mosley. I think we should have a dictionary of church terms, it'd be helpful sometimes.

I think, mostly, that we should just stop talking about it.

(which, coming from me, is really ironic, or humorous, or hypocritical.. or probably a blend of all 3)

To steal a favorite line from Peanuts, "Not only can you not understand love, you can't even talk about it!" : p

Well, coming from me it's probably only ironic and hypocritical...

But I'm not so sure that the answer is to not talk about it. I think we need to mull over ideas and try to apprehend truth then experience it. As Charlie Peacock once sang, "You can only possess what you experience." Maybe if we actually modeled those ideas consistently as we dialog about them THEN...

Well, brevity is the soul of wit. Not of being complete for the sake of the record.

This same principle played a large role in John Kerry's failure to become president.

So, whatever it lacks, there's probably still more good in it than harm.

Yet, in an attempt to please both camps, I shall attempt to restate my proffered solution: (ahem!)

"Less talking. More rocking! (with, of course, the understanding, that I cannot help, and would not want to help, even if I could, the talking that would then follow the aforementioned, and pre-eminent, rocking.)"

Now, if you don't mind, I am going to go celebrate my birthday by hiding in the basement and mixing drum tracks.

best,
-j
